15 Stories for 15 Years! Story #10...

We’re featuring 15 stories for our 15th anniversary! 2021 is the Great River Road Visitor & Learning Center's 15th year at Freedom Park. To celebrate, we will share 15 stories that highlight important moments in our history, remarkable people we've met along the way, lessons learned, milestones reached, and how Friends of Freedom Park and the surrounding communities have supported each other over the years.

Story #10: For at least six years, kids at Malone Elementary school in Prescott ran for Freedom Park. They raised money. Then they ran to secure it. The eagle display in the middle of the main room of the visitor center was purchased in part through their sweat and smiles. So was the butterfly bench that greets visitors with whimsical color at the entrance to the park.

Who remembers running one of those races? Anybody still have a finisher button like these?

We are grateful for our continuing partnership with the Prescott School District. We will carry on the legacy of those legendary Freedom Runs in new ways for a new generation.

Donate today to help us provide family friendly programming, refresh our aging exhibits, and connect kids to life at the confluence!
